NEWSH Acrylic Weathering Medium

NEWSH is a mixing medium built as a non-toxic, water-based alternative to oil and enamel washes and filters — no solvents, dilute and clean with plain water. Mixed with any Pro Acryl colour, it creates a weathering wash in any tone: paint it on, then lift it back off areas where the effect should be lighter.

Its long dry time is the useful part — it gives you room to adjust the effect before it sets, rather than committing the instant it touches the model. Once dry (roughly 15 minutes, depending on how much medium is left on the surface), it's ready to paint straight over. No varnish or top coat needed first, since NEWSH won't reactivate once cured.

• Brown Wash and Black Wash, for weathering effects in a warmer or cooler register
