Eight colours chosen to cover a historical wargames army from any period — ancient Egypt through Rome and the Middle Ages to the 19th century. It is a deliberately small palette that still reaches skin, cloth, leather, metal and the basic primaries, which is why it works as a genuine starting point rather than a sampler.

The selection is built around utility: white and black for mixing and extremes, a flesh tone, three primaries, leather brown for straps and equipment, and silver for weapons and armour. Everything else you need can be mixed from these eight.
