The PRO Sable #1 is the size most painters end up using more than any other — fine enough for detail, large enough to cover a shoulder pad without going back to the palette constantly.
If you only own one sable, this is usually the one. Made from fine sable with a shape that loads a real quantity of paint behind a sharp point, it handles both the highlight pass and the small basecoat, which is where most miniature painting time actually goes. Strong snap, returns to a point cleanly.
